 "Motion" by Leonid Siveriver
I saw this sculpture over thanksgiving. I think it's one of the most fascinating sculptures I've seen in a long time. The actual sculpture I saw was in bronze so it gave seemed like there was actual motion going on with how the light reflected off of it. What do you guys think? |

Okay so I need to update and redo my entire website so you cant look at it yet. So I just uploaded my entire thesis show. These are all 30 x 40 inches but I also have them printed 12x17 in. It is up to you. You might have to wait on a 30 x 40 until next quarter because I dont have many of those but I do have 12 x 17 ready to go. Mandy |

NPR had this really interesting story. I'm not much of a video game player, but this was so much like the Matrix in a strange way I couldn't believe it. Virtual police watching out for robot slaves and mexican workers being hired to farm virtual products for $1 and hour? Lots to enjoy if you have a little time. Play Money |

These images seem to be everywhere...

Revealed - perfect face for comedy Scientists have blended the features of 20 top comics to come up with the perfect face for comedy.
They concluded a round face, small forehead and wide nose, with soft feminine features, is most likely to make us laugh.
And the researchers, from Stirling University, reckon Ricky Gervais has the closest fit.
Gervais pronounced himself "shocked" by the results of the survey.
He said: "All these years I assumed my global success as a comedian was down to my acute observations, expert directorial rendering and consummate skills as a performer - turns out it's because I've got a fat girly face."
The findings emerged from tests carried out by Dr Anthony Little, a researcher in psychology.
The academic ran 179 different pictures of Britain's top 20 comedians, all taken from different angles, through a computer.
They included Peter Kay, Billy Connolly, Eddie Izzard, Jack Dee, Steve Coogan, Jasper Carrott, Roy Chubby Brown, Jo Brand and Dawn French.
Dr Little said: "The characteristics of a feminine face imply that the person may be agreeable and co-operative, which can be causal in our first impressions of comedians as being friendly and funny.
"In the same way that infants are pre-programmed to respond to the warmth and approachability of a mother's face, soft, feminine features put us at ease and encourage us to relax." |

Hello Scad Peeps. I hope everyone is still living the good life and looking forward to Thanksgiving break. I don't have much news, but some of my stuff is in a group show this weekend in Richmond, VA at a Gallery called Artemis. I really just wanted to post a link on here to a short movie that you guys might enjoy watching. None of us would find this film surprising. Please pass it on to your friends who are not familiar with digital photography. Have a good one! -Lizzie

PS: I just saw an Elijah Gowin show in Richmond at Page Bond Gallery. The show is called “Watering.” Emmet Gowin's son is googling the word "baptism" and making inkjet prints of the images that he finds. The results look like bad video captures printed on canvas. They're about 20x24". I thought the work was kind of terrible but fascinating at the same time.
