Pretty dead as of late!

so guys since we seem to not be posting much now that we are all running all over, i thought i would throw something out there to see if we can get talking again. ill just tell you want i am doing and ask to hear the same from you.

currently i am getting ready to go to work (eww) but the large picture is that i am getting ready for thesis which will be in the end of Nov. i am not going crazy just yet up feel i will be soon! yikes! we now, for those not here, have a thesis class that Jenny is teaching. it is a good idea because it is like photo arts and you get help with the paper, but we have to have our paper done by the end of the quarter. i know it is only 10pages but that with trying to put a show together, i am feeling the pressure.

enough about me, how are you folks who are out there in the non SCAD world? and who is planning on going to the southeast SPE so i can know to look for faces?

    SPE in Savannah:

As of lately I have really begun to miss savannah and being in grad school... yeah yeah, there is nothing like being on the other end and getting paid for it... but maybe it is the hopeless romantic in me thinking about the past... if you get a chance go out to skidaway island for the chili cook off... late october I think! It's probably still very warm down there, where as up hear in the mountains we are getting cooler temperatures... I guess it's just that I spent a lot of time in savannah and kind of miss it... especially when hanging up some pictures the other day, they all seemed to have been of or in savannah. So to say the least it would be wonderful to come for SPE, I'm sure rebecca has worked her butt off to make it fantastic, but my teaching schedule obviously doesn't allow me to travel that far. I hope you all enjoy it!

    Meanwhile out here in Utah...

Don't fret about the thesis paper... it never ends! I'm writing proposals for classes to build up the department... today I'm pitching my large format class entitled: Large Format Photography: Film in a Digital Age... I'll be teaching that in the spring... we ended up going with Toyo field cameras and are working on getting some lights for next spring to teach a lighting/studio class. In the fall we'll have a landscape class come online (not on the web, but in the program) and I'm excited about that, too. If you have any ideas or want me to post how I've set the department up, let me know... feedback is always good! Well that is kind of it, other than that in life I'm photographing lint and fingernails, among other boring and useless subject matter, and yesterday I bought a giant squeegee to clean my windows with. That's al for now. I hope everyone is doing very well and good luck to all of you involved with writing the paper!

I suppose I haven't helped the blog much lately, so I'll follow Jeremias and send the update.

Not surprisingly, I'm real busy here in Louisiana. I'm teaching a digital class that isn't necessarily geared toward photo students (and I'm trying to remove it from the curriculum) but it's a good class for the most part. We had an entertaining critique last week where they got to hear several of my more of the wall theories about their work.

My other class is a studio lighting class. I teach this all year, broken up into 3 parts that get progressively more advanced. This structure makes it really fun. I have been trying my best to teach this like a mixture of Moxon and Mosch. They have a tough project starting this week, so I'll finally get to see how conceptual they can get on their own.

It's tough adjusting to a new place, new school, etc. It seems like ages since I've been able to make solid new work, but some is coming. I've got a shooting trip planned for October and a pile of ideas.

Not sure what else to tell right now. My show at Notre Dame opens this week, but I don't think that I'm going to see it in person. So, if any of you want to head up there and put on a lab coat and speak like me, please do.
