Art in Public Space / “Appearing Rooms”

Facing the main entrance of Art Unlimited, German artist Jeppe Hein displays his installation untitled “Appearing Rooms”. It has a playful feel. “The work is a programmed water pavilion, a maze consisting of four outer walls of water in the shape of a square, with four independent walls inside the structure dividing it up into smaller spaces. The 2.3-meter-high water walls rise and fall, changing every ten seconds as they define all possible right-angled configurations of the space. Visitors can move from space to space within the structure, finding themselves in differently shaped areas within or then suddenly outside, the pavilion.”
